N-乙酰神经氨酸,俗称唾液酸,又名燕窝酸,是一种天然存在的氨基糖,它最初由牛颌下腺粘蛋白中分离而出,也因此而得名唾液酸。唾液酸是含有氨基的九碳单糖衍生物,是所有神经氨酸或酮基-脱氧壬酮糖酸(KDN)的N-或O-衍生物的总称。唾液酸通常以低聚糖,糖脂或者糖蛋白的形式存在,主要以短链残基的形式存在于糖蛋白和糖脂的末端。N-乙酰神经氨酸有几个已知的缀和形式来源,游离N-乙酰神经氨酸,寡糖唾液酸乳糖, 含唾液酸的神经节苷脂和酪蛋白巨肽(CMP,Macropeptide,也称为糖巨肽GMP,Glycomacropeptide,和酪蛋白糖巨肽cGMP,Caseinoglycomacropeptide)。

4)化妆品:

日本已开发含N-乙酰神经氨酸软膏和喷雾剂,保持头发健康生长。该产品被作为化妆品而不是药物出售。由于最近的研究发现的N-乙酰神经氨酸拥有的抗氧化作用,可以合理地添加到化妆品面霜或者乳霜中,给N-乙酰神经氨酸带来了巨大的潜在市场。
